Leasing vs Renting

June 28, 2008

Here’s a nice little exercise on leasing versus renting.

Paul Macartney is my subject. I note according to reports he paid 49 million dollars to Heather Mills for 5 years or marriage. Assuming he got sex every night during their 5 year relationship (which lets be honest, probably didn’t happen) it would end up costing him $26,849 per time. Heather ain’t exactly the best looking bird. Now I also note, Elliot Spitzer’s call girl, Kristen, an absolute stunner with a body like no other, charges $4,000 an hour, for anything. Had Paul McCartney ‘employed’ Kristen for 5 years, he would’ve paid $7.3 million for an hour of sex every night for 5 years (a saving of $41.7 million). Value-added benefits are: a 22 year old hot babe, no begging, no coaxing, never a headache, plays all requests, ability to put BOTH legs around you, no bitching and complaining or ‘to do’ lists. Best of all, she leaves when you’re done, and comes back when you ask her. All at 1/7th the cost, with no legal fees.

Sometimes renting makes far more sense.

George Carlin: A YouTube Obituary

June 25, 2008

A little late, but better late than never I guess.

George Carlin had always thought religion was bullshit. Now, he has a chance to explain his views to the big guy up there, as his heart failed him at the age of 71.

Here’s a short selection of George Carlin’s best bits.

RIP George.

5. Voting - why do we always feel like there’s a lack of real choice on the ballot? George explains the habits of an average voter, where politicians come from and why the country is screwed.

4. Ten Commandments You know those stupid top 10 lists, that always seem like they were inflated up to a round number (any similarity to any persons or blogs living or dead is a coincidence)? Well, it goes all the way back to Moses.

3. Airline Announcements Ever wondered why all announcements on an airplane sound like they’re spoken in some weird language from a parallel universe?

2. Saving The Planet - Saving endangered species is just one more arrogant attempt by humans to control nature. It’s what got us in trouble in the first place.

1. Religion Is Bullshit If he was wrong about this one, it might get George into a lot of trouble right about now.

Kanye West and Bonnaroo - Not a Match Made in Heaven

June 25, 2008

This was news to me. I didn’t know about the Kanye debacle at Bonnaroo, but I did find his heated response rather amusing - mostly because it was in all CAPS. I also found his claims that Bonnaroo organizers are “FUCKING IDIOTS,” “SQUID BRAINS,” and that they “DON”T HAVE THE CAPACITY TO PUT ON A SHOW PROPERLY” rather humorous.

Apparently, Kanye missed the fact that the organizers of Bonnaroo are probably the main reason for the return of the American popular music festival. They are organizers that have been putting on this event for 7 years and have brought hundreds of thousands of people to a farm in the middle of Tennessee, and done so without a major hitch.

They have had the capacity to put on a proper show for hundreds of other bands throughout the years, why couldn’t they do it for Kanye?

On the other hand, glowsticks should probably only be thrown during Hood (although I don’t think that’s Hood…). Regardless of how ridiculously late a band is delayed.

Anyway, here’s Kanye’s blog post about the incident

Here’s another article about it, and here
